Automated Marking Solutions

Automated Processes

From sensors to PLCs – we integrate marking systems directly into your production lines.

Marking & Automation

Integrated Automation Solutions for Industrial Marking

We combine modern TIJ printing technology with sensors, encoders, PLC connectivity, and optional vision systems. This ensures efficient, repeatable, and error-resistant marking processes – from simple trigger signals to fully networked production lines.

Automated Marking

Printing triggers, data transfer, and layout changes are automated. Manual input is minimized, and operational errors are significantly reduced.

System Integration

Our solutions integrate seamlessly into existing systems via digital I/Os, serial interfaces, TCP/IP, or connections to PLC, ERP, and MES systems.

Automation

Typical Automation Scenarios

Depending on the product, line speed, and existing control systems, we combine different automation modules. Some typical scenarios include:

Sensor-Based Triggering

Photoelectric or fork sensors detect the product and trigger printing at the exact right moment. Ideal for conveyors, singulation lines, and packaging systems.

Encoder-Based Compensation

Encoders capture real-time line speed. Printing is dynamically adjusted, ensuring crisp and distortion-free text and codes even at variable speeds.

PLC-Controlled Processes

Layout selection, product modes, and batch changes are controlled directly via the production system. Digital I/Os or fieldbus interfaces enable tight integration.

Automatic Data & Batch Changes

Batches, expiration dates, shift info, or item numbers are taken from databases, ERP, or MES systems. Manual input is largely eliminated.

Multi-Line & Parallel Printing

Multiple print heads or lines are managed centrally, enabling parallel marking of identical or different products.

Integrated Quality Control

Combined with vision systems or barcode scanners, the readability and accuracy of printed content is verified. Incorrect or missing parts are automatically flagged or rejected.

Practical Examples

The following scenarios represent some of the many customer projects we have implemented, demonstrating how marking and automation can be effectively combined.

Food & Beverage
Food & Beverage

Automatic expiration date and batch coding on cartons, pouches, or bottle labels – with sensor or PLC-triggered printing and optional barcode verification.

Wood & Construction
Wood & Construction Materials

Marking of beams, panels, or pallets with length compensation via encoders. Print positions remain reproducible even with varying formats and speeds.

Pharma & Cosmetics
Pharma & Cosmetics

Variable data such as batch numbers, serial numbers, or codes are retrieved from higher-level systems and printed on packaging or labels with post-print verification.

Metal & Plastics
Metal & Plastics

Sensor- or robot-guided marking of components, profiles, or housings. Print content is dynamically adjusted according to product type and production step.

Integration & Interfaces

Depending on project requirements, we combine different hardware and software modules to optimally adapt your marking solution to the existing infrastructure.

  • Digital inputs and outputs for start/stop, error, and status signals
  • Trigger signals from sensors, photoelectric barriers, or PLCs
  • TCP/IP, serial interfaces, and optional fieldbus connections
  • API-based control and layout switching
  • Integration with ERP, MES, or database systems
  • Optional vision systems and automatic rejection of incorrect parts

From Concept to Complete Solution

  1. Requirements Analysis – Define products, quantities, line speeds, print content, and interfaces together with the client.
  2. Feasibility & Testing – Print samples on original materials and test sensors, positioning, and readability.
  3. Concept & Layout – Develop a detailed solution concept including a component list and integration plan.
  4. Implementation & Commissioning – Installation, integration into your control system, and on-site commissioning.
  5. Training & Support – Operator and maintenance training, documentation, and long-term technical support.
